Walk-on grinder with Notre Dame roots, but limited on-field impact so far
Josh Schmidt is a Notre Dame walk-on fullback whose appeal is more about toughness, program fit, and depth than big-box production; Notre Dame’s own profile highlights his path from a successful high-school career into the Irish walk-on tradition, while ESPN lists him as a running back/fullback with career stats that do not show major offensive volume. In other words, he looks like a reliable culture piece and scout-team type, not a headline-making stat producer.
