Alex Bentley was a chaos-to-clarity guard who turned Penn State into a pressure machine
In the 2012-13 season, Alex Bentley was Penn State’s floor general: a first-team All-Big Ten guard who averaged 14.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game, while finishing her career with 1,726 points and 319 steals. She mattered because she brought two-way bite—quick hands, poise under pressure, and elite defensive disruption—and earned the 2013 Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award as a 5-foot-8-and-under standout. If a team wanted a fearless, competitive lead guard who could set the tone defensively and organize the offense, Bentley was that spark.
