Matt Rae’s value shows up in the unglamorous stuff: leadership, academics, and veteran defensive-line steadiness
Matt Rae was a senior defensive tackle for Rhode Island in the 2011 season, and the clearest differentiators in the record are his leadership and off-field profile: he was named a team captain and earned three straight Capital One NCAA Division I Academic All-District First-Team honors, plus FCS ADA recognition and national postgraduate-scholarship finalist status. He was also listed on Phil Steele’s 2011 Preseason All-CAA team, which signals conference-level respect. The stats available are sparse, so the story here is more about trust, consistency, and high-IQ trench play than splashy production.
