Travis McNichols Jr. brings South Florida toughness and App State depth to the secondary
Travis McNichols Jr. is a Miami-area defensive back who arrived at Appalachian State as a three-star prospect and brought a reputation for physical, downhill coverage and steady special-teams value. In his 2021 App State profile, he was described as a true freshman who redshirted, then appeared in four straight games, a sign the staff trusted his readiness and football IQ early. His key differentiator is pedigree from a competitive Miami Northwestern program plus a hard-nosed style that fits a defense needing reliable, high-motor DBs rather than flashy one-trick cover men.
