V.J. Floyd brings veteran depth and efficient ball security to Southern Miss
V.J. Floyd is a senior running back for Southern Miss who offers steady, experienced depth rather than flashy volume: his career totals are 169 carries for 626 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns, plus 24 catches for 128 yards, according to current roster/stat listings. In the 2026 season opener vs. Alcorn State, Southern Miss leaned on the run game for 317 yards and 6 rushing TDs, so Floyd remains part of a productive backfield mix. He’s a compact, physical option at 5-10, 196, best suited for teams valuing toughness, reliability, and a mature locker-room presence over home-run explosiveness.
