Mike Gomez brings snap-to-snap reliability at **long snapper** for Illinois
Mike Gomez is a specialist worth caring about because long snapper is a hidden-value role: Illinois lists him as a long snapper, and the only public Illinois record-book trace confirms a Mike Gomez also served as an LS for the program in the early 2000s, underscoring how niche and continuity-driven this job is[2][6]. The fit question comes down to trust, consistency, and clean operation on special teams rather than box-score stats; for a team, a dependable long snapper can quietly swing field position, protect kick timing, and keep special teams humming.
