Beloved CU Buffs Lineman (1999-2003), Tragically Lost to Suicide
Gabe Oderberg was a jovial, popular 6-5, 280-pound scholarship freshman offensive lineman for the Colorado Buffaloes, matching up evenly against top tackles in early college battles; his larger-than-life personality made him a team favorite, but injuries ended his playing days prematurely, contributing to mental health struggles that led to his suicide in 2004 at age 23—now honored by CU for suicide awareness, he's a poignant reminder of the human side of football beyond the field.
