Georgetown DB Daeshawn Matthews-Wayne brings early-career experience and academic discipline
Matthews-Wayne is a compact, athletic defensive back at Georgetown who appeared in four games as a freshman in 2019 and earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition, suggesting a player who pairs field readiness with strong discipline and work habits.[1][2] At 5'10" and 165 pounds, he projects as a quick, coverage-oriented DB whose value is more about reliability, intelligence, and technique than raw size.[2] Because publicly available recent production data is limited, the best read is that he offers a developmental fit for a program that values dependable depth, versatility, and a high-IQ locker-room presence.[1][4]
