Samford’s steady special-teams specialist: Tyler Russell brings dependable long-snap consistency
Tyler Russell is a proven, no-drama long snapper for Samford who has logged special-teams action and even recorded a tackle in the 2021 spring season, a nice sign of willingness and reliability. His value is mostly in precision, consistency, and trustworthiness—the kind of hidden-specialty player coaches love because bad snaps are a problem nobody wants to notice. Listed at 6-1, 199, and as a graduate student from Niceville, Fla., he fits best on a team that prizes clean operation, field-position details, and veteran poise over flash.
