Travis Newman brings steady guard depth, but the stat line is modest
In the 2014-15 season, CSUN guard Travis Newman was a reserve contributor who appeared in 11 games and averaged 0.5 points, 0.4 rebounds, and 0.1 assists per game, with a career-high six points in one outing. The clear differentiator is experience and reliability: he gave the Matadors another veteran ball-handler after transferring from Sonoma State, and his background included Scholar-Athlete recognition and a reputation for doing the little things. If a team wants a high-usage scorer, this isn’t that profile; if it wants a low-drama, team-first guard who understands the game, Newman fits the bill.
