Reese Kortum is giving Wichita State a usable lefty arm with swing-and-miss flashes
In the 2026 season, Reese Kortum has worked mostly as a starter/long reliever for Wichita State, posting a 3-1 record with a 6.23 ERA in 11 appearances and five starts, but he’s also shown real bat-missing upside with 14 strikeouts in 12 innings early in the year and a 3.2-inning scoreless relief outing against FAU on May 10. He’s a 6-foot-1, 185-pound left-hander who can give a staff innings and change looks, which matters if a team wants a matchup weapon with starter experience and some room to polish the command.
