Elias Holbert is VCU’s big-game righty with swing-and-miss stuff
In the 2026 season, Elias Holbert emerged as one of VCU’s most important arms, posting a 2.59 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 41.2 innings while helping the Rams reach the NCAA Regional stage. He flashed real headliner stuff in the postseason, striking out 10 Tennessee hitters over six innings in VCU’s upset win, and earlier in the year he delivered six-strikeout starts with strong command. The differentiator here is competitiveness: he’s a transfer who settled in fast, attacks hitters, and seems to pitch best when the stage gets loud.
