CIAA Defensive Powerhouse Turned Pride Forward
Zaniyyah Ross-Barnes, a gritty forward with elite rebounding chops (7.0 RPG career at Shaw University through 2025, peaking at 7.9 in key matchups), earned CIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors for her 19 defensive boards, 5 blocks, and 3 steals over two games. Her high school pedigree includes a state title and high jump record, showcasing explosive athleticism; after brief Stony Brook stint and Shaw dominance (11.6 PPG in select games), she's a Hofstra Pride transfer bringing relentless board-crashing intensity and pro potential—perfect fit for teams needing tough, versatile defenders who transition seamlessly.
