UT Martin LB John H. Ford II: OVC Defensive Player of the Year with 106 Tackles and Elite Turnover Intensity
John H. Ford II, a 6-3, 230-lb graduate student linebacker for UT Martin, delivered a dominant 2022 season by playing and starting all 11 games, compiling 106 total tackles (37 solos, 69 assists), 5.0 sacks, and earning OVC Defensive Player of the Year—the third in UTM history. His differentiators include an unmatched intensity level and a 'turnover-first' mindset that helped UT Martin rank first nationally in turnovers gained (28) and top 20 in tackles for loss (17th). Ford’s personality, rooted in Joshua 1:9 and a BSBA-Sports Management background, reflects disciplined leadership and relentless pursuit. With no reported injury history and a graduate student status indicating maturity, he’s a high-fit linebacker for any team seeking elite tackling, sack production, and defensive intensity. You should care because he’s a proven OVC champion and AP All-American who elevates team defense beyond stats.
