Veteran lefty Dean Kampschror brings UVA bullpen experience and grit
In the 2025 season, Dean Kampschror gave Virginia a steady veteran bullpen arm, appearing in 14 games and allowing no earned runs in 11 of them, even though his overall line was a 6.23 ERA; after sitting out 2023 because of injury, he responded in 2024 with a 2-0 record and 3.48 ERA in relief. The appeal here is less flash than resilience: he’s a 6-foot-5, left-handed pitcher with a long, projectable frame, postseason-worthy composure, and the kind of academic/competitive maturity that helps a staff survive the grind.
