Versatile Ball State safety with linebacker toughness
Curtez Hawkins profiles as a physical, versatile defensive back for Ball State, listed at safety after previously producing 52 tackles as a linebacker, and that multi-role background suggests he brings run support, contact tolerance, and adaptability that coaches value in the secondary. The main differentiator is his football range beyond one spot on the depth chart: he has shown production on defense and even threw two touchdown passes in high school, which points to a well-rounded, high-IQ athlete with playmaking instincts. For a team, he looks like a fit if you want a reliable, aggressive defender who can handle multiple responsibilities rather than just patrol space.
