Gene Davis brings steady veteran guard play to Alabama State
In the 2017-18 season, Gene Davis was a reliable two-way guard for Alabama State, appearing in 31 games and starting 22 while averaging 4.0 points in 18.3 minutes per game; in the 2018-19 season, he again played a rotation role and posted 3.3 points per game with 1.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists, showing solid ball handling and a useful assist-to-turnover profile. The clear fit here is a composed, experienced guard who can organize an offense, compete defensively, and do the little things without needing the ball nonstop. He looks more “steady glue guy” than star, which is exactly why coaches tend to love him.
