SMU’s long-time punter with a booming leg and veteran poise
Ryan Mentzel’s calling card is consistency and leg strength: SMU’s all-time leader in career punt attempts (254) and a former senior who earned Ray Guy watch-list attention, with a 71-yard bomb in his college résumé. He stands out more for field-flipping value than headline stats, and the takeaways are classic specialist gold—dependable, experienced, and tough-minded. If a team wants a punter who can change field position and handle pressure, Mentzel fits the mold nicely.
