Charlotte 49ers Legend with Retired #21 Jersey
Diego Guevara, a Venezuelan standout point guard for the Charlotte 49ers from 1997-2001, etched his name in program history by leading the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances and one NIT bid, earning top-50 recruit status and the rare honor of having his #21 jersey retired in the rafters. His freshman year (1997-98) featured clutch play like forcing OT against powerhouse North Carolina (5.7 PPG, 1.5 APG), showcasing elite court vision, leadership, and international flair that propelled the 49ers' success—making him a proven winner with pro experience overseas, ideal for teams seeking a battle-tested, high-IQ guard.
