Malik Gant brings NFL-style size and rangy versatility to Marshall’s back end
In the 2026 season, Malik Gant is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound redshirt junior safety for Marshall who has already been recognized on the Conference USA preseason all-conference team and the Jim Thorpe Award preseason watch list[1]. He stands out as a physical, versatile defensive back with safety/cornerback experience, strong tackling production in his earlier college years, and the kind of disruptive athleticism that scouts like for box and sub-package roles[1][12]. The fit? If a team wants a long, tough, instinctive defensive back who can play with edge and cover ground, Gant is the kind of player who earns attention fast[1][12].
