Anthony Steinhoff brings rare size, projectable lefty upside to WIU’s rotation picture
In the 2026 season, Anthony Steinhoff has worked as a depth arm for Western Illinois and was listed on the roster as a 6-foot-8 left-handed pitcher, which alone makes him a tough look for hitters. His signing-day profile called him a highly projectable 6-foot-9 arm who had already touched 88 mph and could make at-bats uncomfortable from both sides, and a 2025 summer-league note said he held opposing hitters to a .143 average in Alaska. The fit is clear: if a team wants a long, developing power lefty with starter traits and upside, he’s the kind of intriguing bet worth keeping on the board.
