From All-WAC Star Safety to Rising Defensive Mind at Montana
Wes Nurse, a three-year starting safety for the Boise State Broncos in the early 2000s, earned first-team All-Western Athletic Conference honors twice, including team MVP and captain in 2003, powering BSU to a 52-11 record and four bowl wins. His football IQ, leadership, and takeaway prowess shone through, now fueling his coaching ascent—recently hired as Montana's safeties coach in March 2026 after mentoring All-Big Sky corners at EWU (3rd in conference INTs in 2025) and DC success at Carroll College (2021 Frontier title). A proven winner with Montana roots, Nurse brings intense, player-developing schemes ideal for any program's secondary.
