Drew Gartman brings elite speed and upside to Arkansas State’s infield
Drew Gartman entered Arkansas State as a highly rated Arkansas prep shortstop, ranked as the state’s fifth-best shortstop by Perfect Game and described as a long-limbed, high-level athlete with top-end speed and strong feel for the game. In high school, he helped Valley View win back-to-back Class 5A state titles in 2024 and 2025, hit .484 with a .605 on-base percentage and 32 steals in his senior year, and was praised for his baserunning instincts and lead-off impact. He redshirted the 2026 season, so the appeal is upside: speed, athleticism, and everyday-infielder traits with room to grow.
