Big-body Hoosier back with blue-chip pedigree and a roller-coaster journey
Sampson James arrived at Indiana as a four-star, 6-foot-1, 220-pound running back with the kind of downhill power that made him a highly touted recruit and an immediate tone-setter in the backfield. In his 2019 season, he flashed real juice with 118 rushing yards on 22 carries in the Purdue win, but injuries, transfers, and off-field adversity have made his path anything but linear. The upside is still clear: size, physicality, and proven high-level talent. The question is durability and consistency, not raw ability.
