Richmond Spiders’ Elite FB with Unmatched Drive and 2025 Playoff Intensity
Matt Barkley, the Richmond Spiders’ standout fullback in the 2025 season, differentiates himself through relentless intensity, a 27-9 starter record, and a personality that fuels team momentum—evident when Richmond scored 46 points (a team FCS Playoff record) in their 46-24 win over the Bears[1]. Though not a QB, his physicality, injury resilience, and clutch decision-making in tight games (like the 70-yard, nine-play tying drive) make him a high-fit FB for any team seeking a leader who elevates intensity and delivers under pressure[2]. His 58.4% completion rate and 2,699 passing yards reflect elite football IQ, translating to superior field vision as an FB[5].
