UAB's Anchor Center from the Mid-2000s Era
Matt Batusic, a 6-3, 295-pound senior center for the UAB Blazers in 2005, was the steady anchor of an offensive line poised for a breakout season, returning four of five starters and earning preseason buzz as a potential All-Conference USA honoree from reliable sources like Conference USA previews. His size, experience (starting as a junior in 2004), and leadership among 17 seniors in his final Legion Field game highlighted his reliability and toughness—ideal for teams needing a no-nonsense interior lineman who stabilized protection for QBs like Darrell Hackney. No injury red flags; a dependable fit for run-heavy schemes, though his pro path ended post-college without NFL draft buzz.
