experienced Cal nose tackle with old-school trench toughness
Hunter Abel’s value is in the dirty work: Cal lists him as a nose guard/nose tackle, and he’s been around long enough to bring steadiness, leverage, and gap control in the middle of the defense. He’s not a splash-stat guy; his appeal is the kind coaches love — block-eating, effort, and staying assignment-sound in a role where disruption often starts with simply not getting moved. If a team needs a physical interior presence who can anchor, hold up in traffic, and bring veteran know-how, Abel fits the mold.
