Marcell Johnson brings veteran size and steady back-end versatility to JMU
Marcell Johnson is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior safety for James Madison, and the draw here is his combination of length, experience, and reliable run support in the defensive backfield. JMU’s roster lists him as a junior safety for the 2026 season, which signals a player with real staying power rather than a one-year flash in the pan. He’s the kind of defensive back who fits best in a physical, assignment-sound system: rangy enough to help over the top, sturdy enough to trigger downhill, and experienced enough to be trusted in a rotation. If your team needs a mature, versatile safety who can help stabilize a defense, he’s worth a serious look.
