Versatile Penn linebacker with special-teams value
McCarthy brings **experienced, assignment-sound linebacker play** and useful special-teams depth to Penn, with 11 tackles in nine games during the 2020 season after developing through the junior varsity path. He is the kind of player coaches like because he has already shown he can contribute in multiple roles, stay ready, and do the unglamorous work that helps a defense function; the main question for a roster fit is whether you need a steady depth piece and core special-teams presence more than a high-ceiling splash athlete.
