Walk-On Pioneer with Grit, But Limited College Impact at UC Riverside
Mike Ferrera, a forward for UC Riverside Highlanders from 2001-05, earned his spot as a walk-on redshirt freshman before logging just 9 total minutes across 5 games (1.8 MPG, 0.4 PPG, .333 FG%), scoring his first career points vs. Southern Oregon in 2003-04—highlighting raw hustle from his San Dimas HS days (12 PPG, 11 RPG). No longer active (career ended over 20 years ago), his differentiator is relentless underdog tenacity, but low output and bench role make him a long-shot fit for competitive teams unless valuing intangibles over stats.
