Meryles Gilbert brings ball-hawking upside and veteran CB grit to Alabama State
In the available 2026-era profile data, Meryles Gilbert stands out as a steady, experienced cornerback for Alabama State with proven playmaking flashes, including an interception in his listed stat line. He’s the kind of defensive back coaches like because he’s been around the block: compact, competitive, and comfortable in coverage, with enough versatility to contribute beyond just the secondary. The big question is volume and recent production, but his longer track record suggests a reliable, physical defender who fits teams that value toughness, instincts, and special-teams utility.
