Southern Illinois legend Darren Brooks still defines the Salukis’ guard standard
Brooks is best known as a rugged, two-way SIU guard whose game blended scoring, rebounding, and playmaking, with ESPN listing his collegiate averages at 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. He is the kind of high-motor, versatile backcourt piece that helps a team in multiple ways, not just by putting up points, and his long-term Salukis recognition underscores his impact and leadership presence.
