Iowa’s steady, old-school linebacker who brings tackling juice and Big Ten toughness
In the 2022 season, Seth Benson was a dependable centerpiece for Iowa’s defense, finishing second on the team with 73 tackles while adding 4 quarterback hurries, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 1 interception[11]. He’s the kind of linebacker Iowa loves: physical, assignment-sound, and versatile enough to play multiple spots early in his Hawkeye career[4]. A former team captain and high-school multi-sport standout, Benson’s appeal is less flash than trust—he looks like a fit for a defense that values instincts, effort, and run-game discipline[1][4].
