Johnny Gray brings compact, downhill linebacker toughness to Troy
In the 2026 season, Troy lists Johnny Gray as a junior linebacker at 5-foot-11, 225 pounds, a build that suggests a low-center-of-gravity, physical run defender rather than a flashy stat-padding rover[1]. The strongest read on him from the available roster context is reliability and toughness: he looks like a thumper who can fit gaps, take on blocks, and give Troy some old-school edge in the middle. If your team wants a compact, aggressive LB with SEC-level-style attitude in a Sun Belt frame, Gray is the kind of guy worth caring about[1].
