Edgar Padilla Jr. is a former Illinois walk-on guard with real program pedigree
Edgar Padilla Jr. entered Illinois as a 6-foot-1 guard from Puerto Rico and was known for his team-first background, including a senior year at San Ignacio de Loyola where he posted 20.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 6.4 assists before the season was canceled. In college, his Illinois impact was limited to six games in the 2020-21 season, so the stat sheet does not tell the full story; the appeal is his guard instincts, experience around high-level basketball, and willingness to embrace a support role. He is a fit if you want maturity, versatility, and low-ego depth rather than high-usage scoring.
