Former BC QB with Aberrant Decision-Making and Double-Coverage Tendencies
Dave Shinskie, Boston College’s former starting quarterback (2009–2012), is no longer active in college football as he is a retired player born in 1984. His career was marked by inconsistent decision-making, including throwing into double coverage and missing wide-open receivers, which led to critics labeling him as formerly the worst starting QB in the ACC. While he showed flashes of potential—such as a 61-yard touchdown pass against USC in the 2012 Emerald Bowl—his overall performance was hindered by poor judgment and a 14-interception season. With no current performance data, injury history, or personality traits to assess, Shinskie is not a viable fit for any team today. Fans should care about him as a historical figure in BC football, but not as an active athlete.
