Versatile Hampton DB with a pedigree, but current production is still emerging
Rainey is a 6-foot-2, 186-pound defensive back from High Point, N.C., with a background that points to useful length and athleticism in the secondary. Hampton’s roster page lists him on the Pirates’ football team, but it does not show current-season stats, so the best read is that he is still in the evaluation stage rather than a proven stat producer. For a team, the appeal is upside: size, multi-sport athletic profile, and DB flexibility; the question is whether he can turn that into consistent game-impacting coverage and run support.
