Hyped Four-Star Big Who Delivered Solid Production for ODU
DeShawn Painter, a 6-9 center ranked as high as No. 69 overall (Scout.com) and No. 127 (Rivals.com) out of high school, averaged 6.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 43.1% FG at Old Dominion after transferring from NC State—proving reliable depth as a skilled, athletic post player from a top-ranked high school squad. His size and four-star pedigree highlight untapped upside for teams needing frontcourt grit, though modest stats suggest he's a high-floor role player rather than a star; perfect fit for programs building around versatile bigs without injury red flags.
