Derek Render is a hard-throwing junior righty with real upside for Utah Tech
Derek Render entered the 2026 season as a junior right-handed pitcher at Utah Tech after a strong prep profile that highlighted a live arm, athletic frame, and pitchability upside. In 2026, he was used sparingly out of the bullpen, but the early returns were efficient: he logged a scoreless 1.1-inning outing against Utah, allowing just one hit and one walk with no runs allowed. His differentiator is projection — a 6-foot, 180-pound righty with a starter’s build, plus the kind of athletic foundation scouts like to dream on.
