Zachary Fetchel brings late-season poise and sneaky value in Rice’s bullpen
In the 2026 season, Rice right-hander Zachary Fetchel made eight relief appearances and finished strong, including a shutout inning in his Rice debut at USC and two scoreless innings to earn his first collegiate win in the American Conference Championship against Wichita State. He looks like a compact, low-drama bullpen arm who can steady games with strikes and composure, not flash alone. For a team, that makes him interesting: he’s already shown he can handle meaningful spots, and his late-season surge suggests a reliever who competes hard and may keep getting better.
