Caden VerMaas is a redshirt freshman defensive back at Rice who brings quickness, burst, and multi-role versatility after transferring from Nebraska, where he appeared in two games in 2025 and preserved a redshirt. In high school, he stood out as a two-way weapon with 93 tackles, five interceptions, four forced fumbles, and more than 3,600 all-purpose yards, which hints at real playmaking juice.
