Delaware State’s backfield name to watch in 2026
Richard Gaines is listed on Delaware State’s 2026 football roster at running back, but there isn’t enough verified public stat data here to accurately judge his 2026 production yet.[14] Delaware State’s offense has been run-heavy to start the 2026 season, ranking 20th nationally in rushing yards per game at 216.5 and 23rd overall in total offense, so any back who earns touches in this system has a real chance to matter quickly.[8][11] If Gaines is an explosive, physical runner who protects the football and handles volume, he could fit a useful role in a rotating Hornets backfield.
