Brian Smith is giving Canisius a gritty, strike-throwing bullpen arm in 2026
In the 2026 season, Canisius right-hander Brian Smith has been used heavily in relief and has shown win-through-the-fire utility, including a win on April 21 after 1.2 scoreless innings and another on May 15 in a 10-7 victory. He’s not a loud-metrics ace, but he brings value as a competitive, versatile arm who can absorb innings and steady a game when the Griffins need a reset. The fit? He looks like the kind of pitcher coaches trust when they want toughness, flexibility, and a low-drama mound presence.
