Brandon Manning brings veteran linebacker depth to Virginia Tech
Brandon Manning is listed by Virginia Tech as a redshirt senior linebacker, which signals a seasoned, physically mature presence in the room rather than a flashy stat-sheet headline. The key reason to care: veteran linebackers usually earn trust through assignment discipline, practice consistency, and toughness, and Manning’s roster status suggests he can help stabilize the Hokies’ defense if called upon. For a team, that makes him a sensible fit as depth or a situational contributor—especially valuable in a linebacker group where reliability and communication matter as much as raw tackle totals.
