a veteran Gardner-Webb interior piece with steady, blue-collar upside
Clay Shelton is a seasoned Gardner-Webb offensive lineman whose profile screams dependability, size, and trench grit rather than splashy box-score glory. In his 2015 Gardner-Webb roster listing, he was described as a top reserve at offensive tackle with good size and the expectation of making a solid contribution up front, which is exactly the kind of low-drama, high-value trait coaches love. For a team looking for an OL who can add depth, toughness, and practice-to-game reliability, Shelton fits the “bring-your-hard-hat” mold.
