Mike Williams brings veteran interior grit to SMU
Mike Williams is a sturdy, experienced defensive tackle for SMU who has built his value on leverage, gap discipline, and run-game toughness rather than flashy box-score production. In the 2021 season, he started all 12 games and posted 30 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1 sack, showing he can be a steady interior presence when healthy. He’s the kind of lineman who helps a defense stay on schedule—hard to move, smart with his hands, and dependable in the trenches, which makes him a useful fit for teams that want physicality and accountability up front.
