Sam Westfall brings veteran CB savvy and opportunistic play to Virginia
In the 2023 season at Virginia, Sam Westfall appeared in 11 games, started nine, and posted 21 tackles, 2 pass breakups, 1 interception at Miami, and 1 forced fumble at Boston College—solid evidence of a steady, ball-aware corner with a nose for disruption[1][3]. He’s the kind of transfer who can help a secondary with experience, toughness, and assignment discipline rather than flashy hype; that said, his 2023 PFF profile at SMU suggested an average-to-competitive cover level, so he looks more like a reliable fit for depth or rotational duty than a pure shutdown headline grab[8].
