Carson van Haaren is a power-armed EKU righty with upside, but command remains the swing skill
In the 2026 season, Eastern Kentucky right-hander Carson van Haaren has flashed swing-and-miss stuff, including 40 strikeouts in 39.2 innings, but the run prevention has lagged with a 9.53 ERA and 21 walks allowed. He’s a 6-foot-1, right-right sophomore from Lexington whose best calling card is raw bat-missing ability and the confidence to work in meaningful weekend starts, yet his profile still has some “developing starter” edges—especially strike throwing and keeping traffic off the bases. If a staff wants upside and is willing to coach up consistency, he’s worth a look.
