Caden Matson brings special-teams juice and senior savvy to Iowa State’s secondary
Caden Matson’s value at Iowa State is the kind coaches love and box scores barely catch: in the 2024 season, he played in all 14 games mostly on special teams and flipped momentum with a 25-yard blocked-punt touchdown return against Baylor, the first by a Cyclone since 2004. The redshirt senior safety/DB is a 6-foot, 205-pound in-state product from Humboldt with a reputation for reliability, toughness, and doing the dirty work. He looks like a strong fit for a team that wants dependable depth, high effort, and a player who can spark hidden-yardage chaos when the game gets weird.
