Dion Guy brings veteran edge-setting versatility to UNC’s defense
Dion Guy is a veteran North Carolina defensive end/edge defender whose value has been tied more to role flexibility and physicality than splashy box-score production. In UNC’s hybrid front, he was used in a bandit-type role that asks a defender to play both on the line and as a linebacker, a strong sign the staff trusted his football IQ and toughness. The big takeaway: if you want a hard-nosed, scheme-versatile defender who can handle multiple alignments and do the dirty work, he fits. If you want a high-volume stat-sheet stuffer, that’s not his calling card.
